A sweet apology!

Do you ever get those months where you just can't get your head around thing?

It's been like that for me since before Christmas. This is why this Christmas/new year post is coming to you so late.

I hope you all had a good one this year; mine wasn't that exciting; spend most of it with the family.

So anyway, back to the present. Have you ever read something in a magazine or on the internet and thought it was a bunch of bananas?!!!

I've been seeing people make thier own icing sugar for ages, and thought; what the hey?!! So i gave it a go. And here's the results of my little experiment.

First I tried it in the food processor; and for experiment purposes I used about 1 cup of normal white sugar. I got nothing by sugar! It didn't look nothing like my usual bag of snowy fine sugar I usually use.

Then I thought it might have been me! So I tried the blender this time. After a few intense blasts, I checked it, and it did look a lot better than the first attempt; almost the same, dare I say, as real icing sugar.

But, I thought, would it hold up in my tests. So I used some to make some buttercream:

It was a little runny and grainy, but at a pinch I suppose it would work.

And a glaze:

You certainly can see the grains in it.

Then I tried it on my homemade sprinkles:

Yes they look OK and after they'd hardened they were fine; a little runny as you can see ( I couldn't pipe them; had to drizzle instead!)

From what I can see, it works fine, if you're gonna use it straight away, and are pressed for supplies.

So, in my opion, I think that I will remember this as a last minute substitute. You never know when you're gonna need it!!

Have a good day my lovelies! x
